Serving Humanity Or Against Humanity? Western Media Say Artificial Intelligence Encounters Ethical Difficulties

This is the question society is asking as we face the rapid development and integration of artificial intelligence into daily life, even though this technology has been with us for decades since the 1950s.

According to Western media, robots that detect tumors earlier than doctors, driverless cars, online journalists and online police... In 2018, artificial intelligence became the focus of attention because of the revolution it has set off, especially the ethical dilemmas it raises.

According to a report by EFE on December 18, can robots think like humans? Will machines one day surpass humans? Will the large-scale use of robots reduce jobs? Is it possible for artificial intelligence to rebel against humans? Will robots that take up jobs have to pay taxes? This is the question society is asking as we face the rapid development and integration of artificial intelligence into daily life, even though this technology has been with us for decades since the 1950s.

According to reports, Ben Goetzel, the developer of the robot "Sofia" - whose skin can express more facial expressions than humans - believes that robots will be smarter than humans. In fact, the intelligence of robots has surpassed humans in many fields. Goetzel believes that network technology will experience a truly explosive development in the next 20 years.

Anders Sandberg, a researcher at the Future of Humanity Institute at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom and a Ph.D. in computer neuroscience, is studying how to promote faster-than-expected development of artificial intelligence technology from ethical, social and even political perspectives. Like many other scientists, Sandberg believes that it is necessary to ensure that network technology truly serves the world.

According to the report, in accordance with this principle, artificial intelligence technology has made progress in areas such as early cancer detection, combating deforestation, improving public transportation, and optimizing agriculture, water supply, and education. Some companies have confirmed that artificial intelligence technology can become a good partner for some sports enthusiasts, smart homes, language learning and even beer lovers.

The report pointed out that the popularization of artificial intelligence technology has also brought about many problems. A report released by the Inter-American Development Bank this year showed that nearly 43% of jobs in the American continent are facing threats from this technology. But there is no doubt that the development of robotics in the field of armaments is the most worrying.

“Robots with the ability to take human life are morally repugnant,” U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in a recent speech.

Agencies such as the United Nations and the European Union have pointed out that to deal with these challenges, humans cannot lose control of the Internet.
