Artificial Intelligence Ethics: From Theory To Practice | "Artificial Intelligence Medical Imaging Ethics Manual" Was Released At The World Artificial Intelligence Conference
Artificial intelligence ethics is a major proposition in human society. With the emergence of a number of innovative application products one after another, artificial intelligence ethics governance has entered a stage where it must move from principles to practice. In the field of medical care, scientific research, clinical and teaching have become three important scenarios for the application of medical artificial intelligence. However, the application of medical artificial intelligence has also brought many new ethical challenges: how to improve the robustness, interpretability, fairness and credibility of medical artificial intelligence systems? How can medical workers avoid over-reliance on smart technology? To this end, Professor Wang Guoyu, School of Science and Technology Ethics and Human Future, School of Science and Technology Ethics and Human Future, School of Philosophy, Fudan University, Professor Wang Yanfeng, Assistant Director of Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Executive Dean of the Institute of Human Phenotypic Group, Fudan University, World Professor Tian Mei, Chairman of the Society of Molecular Imaging, took the lead in an interdisciplinary team to conduct in-depth and detailed investigations and research, and formed an important result
How to protect patient privacy? How can medical workers avoid over-reliance on smart technology?
To this end, Professor Wang Guoyu, School of Science and Technology Ethics and Human Future, School of Science and Technology Ethics and Human Future, School of Philosophy, Fudan University, Professor Wang Yanfeng, Assistant Director of Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Executive Dean of the Institute of Human Phenotypic Group, Fudan University, World Professor Tian Mei, Chairman of the Society of Molecular Imaging, took the lead in an interdisciplinary team to conduct in-depth and detailed investigations and research, and formed an important result "Artificial Intelligence Medical Imaging Ethics Manual". The Manual was officially released on the morning of July 7, 2023 at the "Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Governance" forum of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference!

Li Ling, head of the Nandu Digital Economy Governance Research Center, presided over the launch ceremony. Professor Wang Guoyu, editor-in-chief of "Manual of Artificial Intelligence Medical Imaging Ethics" and dean of the Institute of Science and Technology Ethics and Human Future of China Association for Science and Technology-Fudan University, introduced the content and publication background of the "Manual", Professor Wang Yanfeng and Hongqiao Hospital of Huashan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University Professor Zhang Jun, executive director of the District Radiology Department, held dialogues and discussions on important issues in the ethical governance of artificial intelligence medical imaging.
The "Manual Manual on Medical Imaging of Artificial Intelligence" is the crystallization of interdisciplinary cooperation in liberal arts, science, medicine and engineering, and is the research result of the earliest implementation of artificial intelligence ethics from theory to practice at home and abroad. The Manual brings together more than 10 experts from multiple disciplines such as philosophy, clinical medicine, computer, artificial intelligence, medical imaging, social sciences, etc., and the compilation work took more than three years.
The Manual focuses on three major scientific and technological activity scenarios: scientific research, clinical and teaching. Through the perspective of the whole life cycle, it systematically analyzes the elements of artificial intelligence medical imaging-assisted diagnosis in various scenarios, and the potential ethical risks in interaction with relevant interest activity subjects. A three-in-one ethical risk analysis framework of "multi-discipline knowledge integration - multi-party interest perspective integration - multi-scenario, factor interaction" is constructed, presenting readers with a panoramic image of key ethical issues in the three major scenarios.
At the same time, the research team has sorted out a large number of cutting-edge research, policies, regulations and ethical guidelines in the fields of artificial intelligence and imaging medicine at home and abroad, conducted many research and development teams, visited many hospitals, carried out large-scale questionnaires and expert consultations, and formed a government and obligation Ethical guidance that can be practiced and operational for multiple subjects such as workers and scientific researchers.
The Manual aims to enhance the moral sensitivity of practitioners and the public related to artificial intelligence medical imaging, and provide practitioners with a comprehensive, authoritative and easy-to-understand ethical guide to help them fully understand the advantages and risks of artificial intelligence medical imaging. To protect the interests of patients more firmly in practical applications, build a bridge from theory to practice of the ethical principles of artificial intelligence, promote the "people-oriented" integration of artificial intelligence technology into the field of medical imaging, and better benefit mankind.
Finally, the Manual further combines ethical risks and best practice cases, and provides policy points and cutting-edge research results on important topics, and vividly explains related topics to help readers better carry out ethical reflection and stimulate readers to In-depth thinking on related issues.
The Manual is directed by Academician Ning Guang, President of Ruijin Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, Academician He Jifeng of Tongji University, Wu Rong, Vice President of Huashan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, and Medical Association Engineering and Information Technology, Development Center of Shanghai Shenkang Hospital. Director He Ping of the Ministry and other experts served as members of the book committee.
Academician Ning Guang wrote the preface for this book and said in the preface: "I believe that the "Ethics Manual of Artificial Intelligence Medical Imaging" compiled by Professor Wang Guoyu will become an important starting point for discussion on related topics, and to promote artificial intelligence medical imaging. Technology will better serve the lives and health of the people, promote medical fairness and justice, and contribute to the benefit of mankind. I wish the readers of this book to benefit greatly in the reading process and to promote the progress of artificial intelligence medical imaging as always in the days to come and responsibly develop!”
The research team will also continue to deepen this research to contribute more strong support to the practice of artificial intelligence ethical governance in the country and Shanghai.
Before the release of the Manual, Professor Wang Guoyu also participated in the roundtable dialogue "What is Generative AI changing" and discussed the impact of emerging technologies on society with enterprises and government experts.
