China News Service, Paris, November 25 (Reporter Li Yang) UNESCO officially launched the "Proposal on the Ethical Issues of Artificial Intelligence" on the 25th local time. The Recommendation, adopted collectively by UNESCO Member States, is the first global normative framework on the topic of artificial intelligence.

According to UNESCO, the recommendation has 29 pages in total, defining the necessary basic projects to guide the construction of artificial intelligence to ensure the healthy development of artificial intelligence.

UNESCO Director-General Azulai delivered a speech at the press conference on the same day, saying that the world needs to set rules for artificial intelligence to benefit mankind. The Recommendation on Ethical Issues in Artificial Intelligence is an important initiative that gives countries the responsibility to apply the framework at the corresponding level.

Azulai pointed out that it is urgent and necessary to develop a normative global framework in the field of artificial intelligence to ensure that the technology is applied and serves the public interest. She also stated that UNESCO would support its Member States in implementing the recommendations and requested that they report on relevant progress and practices on a regular basis.

The "Proposal on the Ethical Issues of Artificial Intelligence" aims to promote artificial intelligence to reduce its risks while bringing convenience to society. The proposal calls for more action to be needed beyond the measures already taken by technology companies and governments to enable more protection of the population by ensuring transparency, action and safeguarding personal data.

The recommendation also promotes ensuring that artificial intelligence becomes a more important tool for addressing climate change and solving environmental problems. The proposal requires the government to evaluate the direct and indirect impacts of artificial intelligence systems on the environment, including their carbon footprint, energy consumption and environmental impacts of raw material extraction.

UNESCO Assistant Director-General Ramos presided over the discussion session of the proposal press conference. She pointed out that artificial intelligence technology must help us solve the main challenges facing the world, such as dealing with social inequality and environmental crises.
