The reporter learned on the 29th that Professor Laurent Couniyon ( ), Vice President of the University of the Côte d'Azur in France, pointed out at the "Innovative Development of Artificial Intelligence: Ethical Leadership, Governance Empowerment" forum held in Shanghai that ethical leadership is not only a technical specification, but also a manifestation of humanistic care.
It is reported that the "Innovative Development of Artificial Intelligence: Ethical Guidance, Governance Empowerment" forum was held on the banks of Dishui Lake in Shanghai. Nearly 80 experts and scholars, policymakers, industry representatives, and young students from well-known universities at home and abroad gathered together to discuss ethical challenges and governance paths in the field of artificial intelligence. Professor Laurent Counyon shared a case study of the interaction between cutting-edge AI technology and ethical safety in French universities, praising the unique role of international cooperation in global artificial intelligence governance. At the forum, participating experts agreed that AI innovation and development must use ethics as a beacon, governance as a driving force, and balance technological progress and humanistic care.

Zhang Rongnan, professor of the Department of Philosophy of East China Normal University, and Li Hui, researcher of the Shanghai Institute of Science, jointly released and interpreted the "Global Artificial Intelligence Governance Annual Observation 2025". This report was jointly written by an interdisciplinary team from the two units. It examines AI ethical concepts and governance trends from a global perspective, covering multi-dimensional content such as legislative progress, technical risks, and ethical challenges from more than 20 experts from 12 countries.
Tong Shijun, president of New York University Shanghai and professor of the Department of Philosophy at East China Normal University, shared the topic of AI risks and curiosity in a keynote speech entitled "The core mission of education is to cultivate the virtue of love of learning: opportunities and challenges brought by AI": integrating the Western "curiosity" (voluntary principle) and Chinese "responsibility" (conscious principle) traditions, calling for the practice of "love to learn" in the modern context, balancing curiosity and responsibility, and promoting mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations.
It is reported that on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France in 2024, East China Normal University has launched the "Sino-French Joint Research Project on Ethics and Governance of Artificial Intelligence" (referred to as: Sino-French Joint Research Project). In order to deepen international cooperation in subject research, the school has invited many top French scholars to join the overseas expert committee. Taking this forum as an opportunity, Meng Zhongjie, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of East China Normal University, issued letters of appointment as overseas experts to six French experts including Laurent Cournyon. In the future, East China Normal University will rely on Sino-French joint research projects to promote more interdisciplinary and cross-cultural cooperation and help the sustainable development of artificial intelligence.
