Last night (April 29), the 21st lecture of Peking University Drish Lake Lecture Hall was successfully held. Zhang Ping, professor of the Law School of Peking University and director of the AI ​​Security and Governance Center of the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute of Peking University, was invited to give a special lecture on "People-oriented, intelligence for good: Discussion on the Ethical Governance of Artificial Intelligence" at the Dishuihu Theater.

Professor Zhang Ping starts from the recent global ethical events of artificial intelligence that have been paid attention to and deeply analyzes the actual risks in the development of technology. Through a series of typical cases, the impact of deep forgery technology on the political, judicial and financial fields is revealed. She pointed out that the ethical issues of artificial intelligence have gradually evolved from the initial privacy leakage and algorithm black box to the deep forgery and public opinion manipulation in the strong artificial intelligence stage. In the future, the era of super artificial intelligence may face deeper challenges such as the intelligent gap and human survival security.

Professor Zhang Ping compared the artificial intelligence governance paths of subjects such as China, Europe, and the United States, deeply explored the institutional construction of artificial intelligence ethical review, and systematically interpreted the governance logic of "people-oriented, intelligent and good". She finally pointed out that while promoting deep iteration of technology, we should achieve "humanistic" care in a highly integrated manner with the economy, society and humanities, and promote the development of artificial intelligence to "upward" based on the purpose of "good".

During the exchange session, the audience asked hot questions such as "the phenomenon of domestic enterprises deeply participating in global open source projects" and "whether artificial intelligence can replace basic education". Professor Zhang Ping emphasized that it is necessary to accelerate the construction of China's independent open source ecosystem and establish an open source license system that conforms to the local legal framework to ensure the safety and sustainable development of technology. Professor Zhang pointed out that logical thinking training and ethical cognition in basic education are irreplaceable. AI tools can significantly improve learning efficiency. In the future, education should focus on cultivating "the ability to collaborate with AI" rather than simply pursuing the accumulation of knowledge.

Tang Hao, member of the Party Working Committee of the Lingang New Area and full-time deputy director of the Management Committee, presented a commemorative plaque to Professor Zhang Ping, and nearly 300 citizens listened to the lecture on the spot.
